Lawlor’s of Naas Debuts Stunning Refurbishment

The refurbishment of Lawlor’s of Naas has been a labour of love for owner Jack Tierney and the team, we spoke to General Manager Richard Nugent and Mercedes Bagnall, Director of Sales and Marketing at the hotel

Lawlor’s originally started life as a Tearooms on Poplar Square in Naas town centre.  It was founded by Brigid Lawlor, who was well known in the hotel and catering business, having built a business that provided catering at the RDS, Punchestown and the Curragh.  Over time, other buildings were purchased, and the current owner Jack Tierney reconfigured all the buildings to make them work as a hotel.

A new extension, that more than doubles the size of the building, giving it a substantial footprint of more than three acres in Naas town centre has just opened.  There are 138 bedrooms in total, along with a ballroom for 550 and a conference room for 350 (theatre style).  The hotel features an elegant new Lobby and an iconic round Bar at the centre of Vi’s Restaurant. Other facilities include an underground car park, and future plans for the property include a rooftop restaurant overlooking Naas town centre.

There are an additional 1.98 acres behind the hotel, where a monastery used to be.  This listed land has been purchased by Jack Tierney, and there are elements of the monastery that will be incorporated into the existing business as part of the extension.  When all is complete, Lawlor’s looks set to occupy an almost five-acre site in the town centre.
