Full list of 14 countries with no Covid travel rules including Iceland and Mexico

Coronavirus has changed the world of travel with Covid tests and vaccine requirements becoming part and parcel of holidays.

The good news is that countries are easing their restrictions – in fact, 14 countries including Mexico, Iceland, Denmark and Sweden have scrapped Covid travel rules entirely.

With the UK’s own travel rules having ended when you return to the UK – including the scrapping of passenger locator forms – it means that there are now 14 destinations you can visit where you’re essentially free from any Covid admin.

1. Iceland

Iceland scrapped all of its Covid travel rules earlier this year, and is now welcoming back all visitors no matter what their vaccination status.

That also means no Covid tests, or passenger locator forms – so it’s the perfect excuse to explore some of the ridiculously beautiful places in Iceland from the glaciers to iconic spots like the Blue Lagoon.

2. Mexico

There are no Covid entry requirements for Brits heading to Mexico, but you will need to complete an immigration form, and need this to enter and leave the holiday hotspot.

As for having some bucket list-worthy experiences there are heaps of incredible places to visit in Mexico, while Cancun and Tulum tend to be a hit if you’re after all-inclusive resorts, beautiful beaches and plenty of brilliant bars and restaurants.

3. Denmark

Denmark no longer has any Covid restrictions for Brits – and this also applies for those heading to the Faroe Islands.

Whether you’re looking to wander along Copenhagen’s colourful Nyhavn harbour, discover the Tivoli Gardens or go in search of the Little Mermaid herself, there are plenty of fun things to see and do in Denmark that’s sure to appeal to the whole family.

It’s worth noting that although Greenland falls under Denmark when it comes to the Foreign Office’s travel advice, the island has its own Covid rules in place, and currently you can only visit if you’re fully vaccinated or have recovered from Covid.

4. Norway

According to the UK Foreign Office: “Entry requirements for Norway are the same for all travellers, regardless of whether you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past year.”

Intrepid explorers won’t be stuck for things to see and do in Norway from those spectacular Norwegian Fjords to the snowy landscapes that come winter make it one of the best countries for seeing the Northern Lights.

5. Madeira

The Portuguese island was one of the first to ease its travel rules for Brits last year, and it quickly became a firm favourite with holidaymakers.

Funchal tends to be the popular holiday hotspot with its wide array of attractions, hotels and restaurants, whether you’re wandering through the historic Old Town or taking in the views at the Botanical Gardens.

You will need to fill out a pre-travel passenger form, but we’ve still included it in our round-up as there are no tests or vaccine requirements involved.

6. Montenegro

You do not need proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test to visit Montenegro.

The Balkan country has everything you could want for an adventure-filled break; breathtaking hikes through rugged mountainous landscapes, historic villages with stunning Old Towns and medieval buildings, delicious food, crystal-clear lakes, and sandy beaches with all the facilities you need for a stress-free day basking in the sunshine.

7. Hungary

Hungary lifted all of its Covid travel rules back in March, meaning you won’t need a negative test to enter the country, nor will you need to be fully vaccinated.

A city break in Budapest is often top of the list for Brits, thanks to the plethora of brilliant bars, restaurants and hotels not to mention the likes of the thermal baths, historic buildings and beautiful surrounding scenery to explore.

8. Ireland

As of early March, you do not need to show any proof of vaccination, Covid recovery, or a negative Covid test to enter Ireland. The country has also scrapped its passenger locator forms.

You’ll be spoiled when it comes to Instagram-worthy scenery from Killarney National Park to the Ring of Kerry, while Dublin makes for a brilliant city break especially if you’re after a vibrant nightlife.

Then of course there are the awe-inspiring Cliffs of Moher – even if they’ve left some tourists baffled…

9. Costa Rica

Costa Rica has scrapped all its previous travel insurance requirements related to Covid – the last of its Covid travel rules.

The UK Foreign Office does caveat that “the authorities in Costa Rica may restrict travel or bring in new rules at short notice, for example due to a new COVID-19 variant”.

If you’re after a holiday to remember, Costa Rica won’t disappoint from its ridiculously beautiful national parks to its fascinating places to visit. Rainforests, golden beaches and bustling towns – you name it, they’ve got it!

10. Sweden

As of April 1, people travelling to Sweden from the UK are no longer be required to present a negative COVID-19 test or proof of vaccination to visit Sweden.

Sweden has heaps of fascinating spots to visit from the dazzling royal palaces to sprawling national parks – and even an entire museum dedicated to Swedish hit band ABBA!

11. The Maldives

The Maldives have scrapped all vaccine and Covid test rules for travellers, making for the perfect excuse to finally tick those amazing Maldives experiences off the bucket list (underwater restaurant, anyone?).

Even though the islands aren’t going to make for a budget friendly break, the good news is that there are ways to keep the costs down.

You will need to fill out a pre-travel passenger form, but we’ve still included the islands as there are no tests or vaccine requirements involved if you want to go on holiday.

12. Lithuania

Brits no longer need to show vaccination proof, Covid recovery or negative Covid tests to enter Lithuania.

Last year, the country’s capital Vilnius launched a tongue-in-cheek campaign after a campaign led by its tourism authorities found that people often guessed the likes of Italy, Austria, Sweden and even South America as its location.

It is worth noting that in late February, Lithuania announced a State of Emergency, in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The UK Foreign Office warns: “Rules relating to the State of Emergency may change at short notice.”

13. Poland

Poland has lifted all its quarantine, vaccination proof and pre-departure Covid tests.

The country borders Ukraine, but remains open for tourism.

Back in March Dorota Wojciechowska, Director of the Polish Tourism Organisation, said: “I would like to assure travel agents and individuals that the country remains safe. The Polish government is doing everything it can to provide security for both the nation and the tourists. We are hoping that the ongoing horrible situation in Ukraine will not discourage British tourists from visiting Poland this year.”

14. Romania

Romania lifted all of its travel rules for foreign visitors back in March.

The country borders Ukraine, but the UK Foreign Office states in its travel advice: “There is widespread military activity in Ukraine. Although Romania shares and land and sea border with Ukraine the situation there remains normal. The FCDO advises against all travel to Ukraine. You should not attempt to cross into Ukraine from Romania.”
